Google AI Outperform Doctors
Google’s AI outperforms doctors, in trained medical interviews. It showed more empathy and gathered a similar amount of information as its physician counterparts.
The bot outperformed the physicians in 24 out of 26 criteria including, conversation quality, politeness, explaining the condition and treatment, coming across as honest, and expressing care and commitment.
AI scientists are worried about potential ethics and privacy issues, as there is no way to know how the information is being stored, and potential room for racial bias based on limited training data.

Apple Closes 121-Person AI Team
Apple is closing its 121-person AI team in San Diego, merging it with the Austin-based team. Employees have until February's end to decide on relocation, with termination set for April 26 if they choose not to move. The team, responsible for Siri's improvement, was unexpectedly informed of this change. Apple is consolidating its US-based Data Operations Annotations teams in Austin, where most members already are. Reluctant to relocate, San Diego employees now face the dilemma of moving or seeking other roles within Apple, despite lacking engineering backgrounds. Apple offers a $7,000 relocation stipend and severance packages for those leaving.
