ChatGPT Lowers Cost For Tokens

OpenAI announced in a blog post it has lowered its cost for input and output tokens, with input now costing $0.0005 per thousand tokens and output costing $0.0015 per thousand for the GPT-3.5 Turbo.

Input Tokens: Each word and punctuation entered into the AI Model

Output Token: The AI model’s response to the input.

This makes the use of the API cheaper for developers and enterprise customers and OpenAI says they plan to lower the price further in the coming months.

OpenAI also plans to release GPT-4V(ision) in the coming months which would enable the API to respond to image input.
