During the New Hampshire race, voters received a robocall imitating Joe Biden, urging voters to "Save your vote for the November election."

The disinforming call urges voters to not vote despite Joe Biden not being on the ballot. The call also insinuates that voting in the primary would preclude the ability to vote in the November election, which is not true.

Tracking a deepfake audio message is difficult because phone-based distribution leaves little digital trace and the technology masks the sender's identity, complicating efforts to pinpoint the source.

It’s still uncertain how the US Federal Election Commission will deal with political deepfakes.

There is no tool to tell if deep fakes are real or not with 100% certainty, and such tools are not readily available yet.
